10 Steps to Personal Growth Change is hard and changing yourself is even harder. However, only you can make yourself happy. No amount of money, friends or prestige in your life can make up your self worth. Below are a few suggestions to help you become the person you want to be. 1. Give of yourself to others: Donate to a charity or volunteer to help those less fortunate. The feeling you get back is worth its weight in gold. 2. Surround yourself with the right people: They say you are who you hang with. Ask yourself if your peers represent the type of person you want to be. 3. Don't be a victim: You can't always control what happens to you, but you can control how you react to it. 4. Take a long look in the mirror: Do you like the person you see? Make a list of what you see as your good and bad characteristics and brainstorm ways to improve what you don't like about yourself. 5. Take responsibility for your own life: You are the person who will have to live with the choices you make. Don't let outside influences cause you to make bad choices. 6. Be a good friend: Are you the type of person you'd like to hang out with? If you don't like your own company, why should anyone else enjoy it? 7. Be part of the solution, not the problem: Stop whining and take action. Convincing yourself you're helpless, will only make you helpless. 8. Be honest: Be honest with others, but more importantly yourself. This is the hardest step to personal growth, but it's the most important. 9. Take up a hobby: Find out what interests you and take part in those activities. Do it for yourself and only yourself. 10. Be healthy: Eat a salad. Take a walk. It's a proven fact that the better you feel physically, the better you feel emotionally. Keep your endorphin levels high and stay positive. |
